How It Works

From First Click to First Shot

Booking a tour is straightforward. Here's exactly what to expect — from the moment you pick a tour to the moment you're standing in the field with your camera.

Booking Your Tour

01

Pick Your Tour

Browse the tour options and find the one that fits your schedule and interests. Not sure which is right for you? Every tour page lists the skill level, duration, and what we'll be shooting — and you're always welcome to reach out with questions.

02

Choose a Date

Use the booking calendar to find an available date that works for you. Tours run year-round, with the best light in spring and fall. Dates fill up fast around peak season, so booking a few weeks ahead is a good idea. If you are wanting a tour that requires a permit, OBTAIN your permit first.

03

Confirm & Pay

Once you've selected your date, you'll confirm your spot with a deposit. The remaining balance is due 48 hours before your tour. You'll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to know, including the meeting point and what to bring.

04

Show Up Ready to Shoot

That's it. I'll handle the location scouting, timing, and teaching. You just need to show up with your camera and a willingness to learn.

A Note on Permits

Some of our tours take place in areas that require a day-use or photography permit — including parts of Zion, Canyonlands, and certain Bureau of Land Management locations. Where a permit is required, it will be clearly noted on the tour page. Guests are responsible for obtaining their own permit before the tour date. I'll provide the exact permit name, the agency to contact, and step-by-step instructions in your confirmation email so there's no guesswork.

What to Expect on the Day

01

We Meet at the Location

All tours start at a designated meeting point — usually a trailhead or parking area close to our first shooting spot. I'll send you exact coordinates and directions in your confirmation.

02

In-Field Coaching

This isn't a walk where I point at things. I'll be right beside you, helping you dial in your settings, read the light, and make decisions in real time. Whether you're on full auto or shooting manual, we'll work at your level.

03

Small Group, Real Attention

Every tour is capped at 6 guests. That means you're not waiting in line for a shot or getting lost in a crowd — you get actual feedback, not just a group experience.

04

Post-Tour Image Review

After the tour, I'll do a review of your shots with you — what worked, what didn't, and what to try differently next time. It's one of the most valuable parts of the day and something most workshops skip entirely.

What's Included
